Its a little disconcerting in light of the fact that several independent ancient sources have predicted the world will end on December 21, 2012. Now we can add Nostradamus to the list of predictions for that date. In fact, he notes that the odds of these various groups predicting the same events for the same date could not be mere coincidence.
Of course, we all know that the advanced civilization of the Mayans ended their calendar on December 21, 2012. We recently reported that the Dutch are preparing for a 2012 apocalypse They seem mostly upset that The Netherlands seems to be sinking into the ocean.
I realize that we’ve had many warnings of the end of the world before. We all remember cults that have sat and waited for space ships to come pick them up before destroying the Earth, or committing mass suicide in preparation for the apocalypse. Then there was all the dire warnings about Y2K. They say that happens at every turn of a millennium, although I don’t know how anyone would know that. All of these stories make any of these prophesies a little hard to get too excited about.
Still, one keeps coming back to the words of Nostradamus. Can it be a coincidence when different civilizations on different continents in different times came up with the same date? Its not like they could text each other or read it on the internet. They came up with the predictions of doom and gloom in 2012 complete independently of one another.
I think I’ll plan a big party for December 22, 2012, the day after Winter Solstice 2012. If we are still around then, it’ll be a big celebration. If not, then it won’t really make any difference.
What do you think? Is there enough of these strangely coincidental predictions and prophesies to cause concern? Is it just another conspiracy theory that puts together random facts mixed with lots of fiction to create a strange tale?

Four surgeons were taking a coffee break and discussing their work.
The first one said, I think accountants are the easiest to operate on. Everything inside them is numbered.
I think librarians are the easiest," said the second. When you open them up, all their organs are arranged alphabetically.
The third surgeon said, "I prefer to operate on electricians. Their organs are color-coded."
You're all wrong, said, the fourth. Lawyers are easiest. They're heartless, spineless, gutless and their heads and asses are interchangeable.

On June 22, David Bendeth posted this on a thread at the forum of Breaking Benjamin's main website:
Studio Update: "We have cut the drums for the soundtrack. Tomorrow we do guitars with Ben, then Aaron and Mark arrive. We should all be together on Thurs. When we really get in the flow we will do some live streaming and get some pictures together. Eventually we should do a chat and give regular updates as we did on the last two records. If anyone has ideas please pm me or write them here. Songs are coming together nicely, Ben is really focused and Chad kicked out a killer drum track on Saturday. Everyone is in good spirits and knows what they have to do to get the job done. These guys are all pros."
On September 23, 2009, Breaking Benjamin released the songs "Fade Away" and "Crawl," along with an online game, Altered Benjamin, featuring Ben as the main character.

If the eyes are the windows of the soul, then the body is the mirror of
our feelings. If we are feeling great it shows in how we hold and use our
body. Conversely, if we look at someone else’s body we can often tell how
they are feeling by the signals their body is giving.
So when it comes to dating, using/reading body language signals is a great
tool. You can observe this by watching a couple flirting with each other.
In case you don’t think learning how to read and use body language is not
important, here are some statistics about the messages we receive from
someone we meet.
• 7% of the information we receive is from what they actually say.
• 38% of information we receive is from the tone, inflection and speed
of their voice.
• A staggering 55% of the information we receive is from their
body language.
These non-verbal signals will help you in dealing with the person but stay
focussed on what the person is saying. If you focus too much on their body
language signals, you and/or the other person may feel uncomfortable.
It is useful to be able to read people’s body language, but it is equally useful
to learn how to get your body to send the right signals and eliminate the
wrong signals. See below for some body language signals.
Be warned: body language is very much open to interpretation. Many
signals have different meanings depending on the person/situation. Keep this
mind when you assess a body language signal.
Note: Look for 3 or 4 signals that convey a similar message or the oneoff
inconsistent signal. Also, consciously practise reading/doing some of
the signals as much as you can. Learning, as you practise, what works
and what doesn’t work for you will help you gain confidence to use body
language techniques consciously.
Body Language Signals:
• Open arms:
o Energetically open and possibly feeling vulnerable
o A good way to show you are approachable, especially when
combined with open palms
• Palms up/open hands:
o Defences down
o An open heart
• Palms on chest – When a person uses open palms that occasionally
touch their chest, they are signalling honesty
• Outward, upward hand movements – This conveys an open and
positive message
• Folded arms:
o A defence mechanism that shows the person is not open to what
is being said or done
o May mean rejection
o Physically cold
o Stubborn in their outlook
• Hands closed – A closed heart
• Doodling – Bored
• Fist:
o Anger and to be avoided
o Physically cold
o Very tense
o Defiant or triumphant when held in air
• Feet under the chair – A sign of eagerness
• Looking around:
o Wants to get away
o Thinking about something else
o Bored with situation/conversation
• Stroking chin – evaluating
• Mirroring – This is evidence of two people getting on really well.
Each person copies the other’s body language, usually subtly.
Mirroring occurs with:
o Breathing
o Gestures
o Eye movement
o Leaning towards each other at the same time
o Crossed or uncrossed legs
o Speech pattern
o Arm movement, or no arm movement
o Emotive energy such as being excited, relaxed, etc.
Note: If you practice this with somebody the key is to be subtle and
not be a copycat. There is a natural rhythm to the process, which is the
key.
• Yawning:
o Bored
o Tired and that may have nothing to do with the
situation/conversation
• Preening – This shows someone knows they are attractive
For example, flicking or stroking their hair or adjusting a collar and/or
a tie.
• Ear Tugging:
o Indecision
o Possible deception
• Puffing out chest – this has nothing to do with silicone implants. Men
do this when demonstrating their attraction to someone.
• Nodding – The occasional nod from a listener to a speaker is a
positive message. It is an indication they are listening and are
interested.
• Too much nodding – This indicates the listener has lost interest and
may be bored. (Probably where the saying ‘nodding off to sleep’ came
from.)
• Chopping hands down – This is an aggressive act, usually used to
antagonise.
• Body space – Respect for the other person’s body space is crucial in
gaining their trust. Stay at least one arm’s length away from them.
• Striding briskly:
o An outward display of confidence
o Anger
• Gentle leg shaking:
o The person is mildly stimulated
o May need to go to toilet
• Vigorous leg shaking:
o Reveals apprehension and nerves
o Desperate to go to the toilet
• On toes – Eagerness
• Clears throat:
o Anxiety
o Has a cough/sore throat
o Habit
• Pretends to kick imaginary things on ground - frustration
• Open feet – reflecting and giving attention.
• Flushed cheeks:
o Indicates interest in the other person
o Embarrassment (usually temporary)
• Dilated pupils:
o Interested in someone.
o Focussed
o High on drugs
• High blink rate:
o A person who has an interest in someone will have an increased
blink rate.
o Nervousness
o Assessing
o Has an eye disorder
• Backwards moving:
o Rejecting
o Escaping
• Moving away – Sometimes there is no hidden meaning.
• Slumped posture:
o Bored
o Low self-esteem/confidence
• Legs entwined – A woman who is interested in someone will often
cross and uncross her legs when seated.
• Gazing – A woman will gaze long enough for someone to notice then
will quickly look away. Her mouth may open and lips slightly wet.
• Low voice – When interested in someone a woman may speak in a
low voice.
• Running hand along leg – sexually interested in the other person
• Running hands along legs:
o Really sexually interested in the other person
o Getting ready to leave
• Directly facing you with open stance – The person is interested and
you have their attention.
• Drumming fingers:
o Impatient
o May be a drummer
• Open mouth:
o You have said something outrageous and their jaw has dropped in
shock.
o The person has tried to interrupt the conversation to get a word in,
but you haven’t paused.
o May be a sign of attraction
• Tilt of hips – Sign of attraction and a good flirting tool
• Finger pointing:
o Sign of assertiveness
o Sign of aggression
• Open legs – Receptive to the other person
• Staring:
o Defiance
o Sign of aggression
• Looks you in the eyes without staring – Confident, self-assured.
• Doesn’t look you in the eyes:
o Lack of confidence
o Is being deceptive
• Standing upright – reflects inner confidence and comfort level.
• Chewing fingernails – Nerves. The person is not feeling secure. If
they swallow, there may not be enough calcium in their diet.
• Quick and animated arm and hand movements – Lying
Note: Many honest, passionate people also do this.
• Darting eyes – deception.
• Shifting eyes – At the very least may be a lack of confidence or at
worst it is indication of a deception. Definitely means deception when
combined with a nose rub and ‘umms’ and ‘ahhs’.
• People tend to look down and to the left when lying.
• Running fingers through hair:
o Frustration
o Preening

Why is my computer running slow? Why does it take forever to start up or
open programs or browse web pages? These are questions we hear constantly
from users.
Thankfully help is at hand. Below are some simple yet effective computer
maintenance tasks that can help improve the performance of your computer.
And ALL the tools are FREE.
Inside the computer
bad airflow which in turn can cause the PC to overheat. An overheating
PC can cause all sorts of problems such random reboots, screen freezes
etc. Use a can of canned air to remove the dust like this one. For
temperature monitoring there are a number of good freeware programs
that can identify the temperature of your fans, processor, hard drives etc.
Check out: Core Temp or Speed Fan or Everest
Power supply
your PC. The more components you add the more power it needs. Should
your PSU be failing or lacking in power then computer performance can
be degraded causing all sorts of strange problems. An easy way to check
if your PSU is not supplying enough power is by downloading SpeedFan.
Once downloaded and installed, open up SpeedFan and look at the
voltages on the bottom left of the Readings tab. Look at the +3.3v, +5v
and +12v inputs at the bottom left. Your voltages should be within + or -
5% of these. If they are not then test the system with a new / known to
work PSU.
Real time security programs
program may seem like a good idea and provide you with extra layers of
security. However having more than one real time scanner can actually
degrade performance as each scanner in turn checks files. We advise
that one real time anti-virus and one real time malware / adware /
spyware scanner be installed on any system.
Temp files
temporary files from installing programs, browsing the internet etc.
These can really slow down your PC and make anti-virus / malware scans
take a lot longer. You can do this manually by closing all programs and
type %temp% then Enter in to the Run box. A list of files / folders will
appear. To select them all press Ctrl+A then press the Delete key.
Remember to empty the Recycle Bin. Or use a program such as TFC
Programs
uninstaller that comes with the program or Add / Remove from the
Control Panel. DO NOT just delete the program shortcut or the folder
in \Program Files.
Startup / Autoruns
need PowerDVD to run on startup? DO NOT use msconfig to
permanently disable start up items as this is meant for troubleshooting
purposes only. Use StartUp Lite or Autoruns instead.
System memory
better and please don't confuse RAM memory with hard disk space. Right
click My Computer and select Properties to find out how much RAM you
have. As a basic rule we recommend atleast 512 MB for XP and 1 GB for
Vista. You can check the correct memory upgrade for your computer
using Crucial scan my system tool or CPUID
Hard drive space
drive and select properties. A dialogue box with a pie chart will appear
showing you both used and free space among other hard drive tools.

Swap / page file
• Check your swap file size. This should be atleast the size of the amount
of RAM installed in your PC but not more than 4GB and you must have
the available space on your hard drive. 98 / XP guide.

Torrent Speed Tips
Torrent Client Configuration
In order to apply these tips you need to know your maximum
up- and download speed. You can test your bandwidth over
here (stop all download activity while testing). Also make
sure that you applied the tips provided in our previous posts.
Note that there’s a huge difference between kb/s
(kilobits/second) and kB/s (kilobytes/second). To be
precise, kB/s = kb/s divided by 8. In this tutorial we use
kB/s (like most torrent clients do). This means that you
might need to calculate your max speed in kB/s yourself if
the speedtest only gives you the results in kb\s (so divide by
8 then).
Settings 1-4 can be found in the options, settings or
preference tab of most torrent clients.
1. Maximum upload speed
Probably the most important setting there is. Your
connection is (sort of) like a pipeline, if you use you
maximum upload speed there’s not enough space left for the
files you are downloading. So you have to cap your upload
speed. Use the following formula to determine your optimal
upload speed…
80% of your maximum upload speed
So, if your maximum upload speed is 40 kB/s, the optimal
upload rate is 32kB/s
But keep seeding!
2. Maximum download speed
Although setting your maximum download speed to
unlimited may sound interesting, in reality it will only hurt
your connection. If you still want to be able to browse
properly, set your maximum download speed to:
95% of your maximum download speed
so if your maximum download speed is 400 kB/s, the
optimal download speed is 380kB/s
3. Maximum connected peers per torrent
Yet another setting that you don’t want to max out. I
experimented quite a lot with the max connected peers
settings and came to the conclusion that both high and low
number hurt the download speed of a torrent. The following
setting worked best for me.
upload speed * 1.3
so, if your maximum upload speed is 40 kB/s, the optimal
amount of connected peers per torrent is
40 * 1.3 = 52
I didn’t noticed a difference for fast or slow connections here.
4. Maximum upload slots
1 + (upload speed / 6)
So, if your maximum upload speed is 30 kB/s, the optimal
number of upload slots is
1 + (30 / 6) = 6
5. Usenet
Usenet is an alternative to BitTorrent and considered to be
the most “private” way to share files. In other words, no
MPAA or RIAA watching your back. It is fast, has a lot of
content and amazing download speeds without having to
configure your download client.
The biggest disadvantage is that high speed Usenet servers
are not free. You need at least some kind of paid subscription
plan to be able to get decent speeds on Usenet. For some
people this is not a problem, their argument often is that
they already pay a lot of money for high speed broadband
access, so why not pay a little extra to get the best speeds out
of it.
We suggest a free trial account so you can test Usenet is
something for you or not!
6. More tips
A. Seed.
Downloading speeds will be sub-optimal for everyone unless
everyone plays their part and seeds. Private tracker sites are
a great example of how the overall speed of the swarm
increases when everyone is seeding and downloading in
equal measure. So, play your part in seeding and tell others
to as well.
B. Be connectable.
Make sure you’re not “firewalled” by opening up your
incoming ports or by enabling UPnP in your router,
otherwise you’ll be leaving bandwidth on the table.
D. Select the right torrents.
Your download will be faster if you choose to download a
torrent where there is a good balance of seeds and peers. For
instance, Vuze ranks its search results according to the
number of seeds and peers to make this easier.
E. Be realistic.
Check the swarm average and if you’re already above
average, then you just need to be patient. If you’re below
average, go back and check some of these other things I’ve
mentioned.
